These antique Victorian era Trent portrait tiles once graced a fire box from an apartment in the old Cheney Building here in Toledo, Ohio. In excellent condition, we removed them during a salvage job almost 16 yrs ago. This pair was packed away until now. Measuring 6" x 6" they sat in each upper corner of the tile surround facing one another for almost 100 yrs. They are done in a pale olive green color that was a popular glaze color of the times. Trent produced many figural tiles during the Victorian era.

 The youth in this antique 6 x 6 Trent portrait tile could be either a young male or female...it is a little hard to tell. Lovely none the less in this dark olive glaze. Many tile makers of this era did exquisite portrait tiles for fireplaces. This is no exception. The tile does have some chipping in the glaze...but it is a hundred plus in age & not everyone is considerate of old things!

 Beautifully colored, with great detail...this pair of antique Victorian portrait tiles are in excellent condition. Glazed in a deep teal color, they epitomize what tiles were all about during the Victorian era. Tiles like this pair were often placed in the corners surrounding a fire box opening. The faces of the male & female are idealized into the grace that was the Victorian era...or thought to be!

 We have a small quantity of these lovely antique 6 x 6 tiles available that were mfg by Hamilton Tile Co. in Hamilton, Ohio during the Victorian era. The coloring is a white, brown & a very soft green tone. They are in excellent condition showing a nicely raised & detailed floral pattern. They would make quite a statement mixed into a back splash or in with other tiles in a fireplace surround.
